Thousands of years ago- Jews first move to Zion

1800- Zionist movement; Jews start migrating back to the Holy Land

1922- The British first promised to create an Israeli government

1938- Zionists use suicide bombers against the British and Arabs

1948- Allied countries create Irael, Israeli-Arab war begins leading to separate Palestine and Israeli side of the country

1950- Hundreds of Israelis killed by Arab militia members

1964- Yasser Arafat creates Palestinian Liberation Organization

1967- Israel defeats troops from Jordan, Iraq, Egypt and Syria

1970- “Black Hand” group of Palestinians kill 12 children in a school bus

1972- “Black Hand” kills the Israeli Olympic team

1973- Israel attacked by Egypt and Jordan on Yom Kippur (Jewish holy day)

1993- Arafat and Israeli prime minister, Rabin, sign a peace treaty. Rabin later assassinated

2001- Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon refused to sign any peace agreement with Palestinians

2003- Israel tells citizens to leave the West Bank, for the Palestinian government to form.

2004- Arafat dies. Palestine is split into the militant Hamas and the peaceful Fatah.

 

   

     In 2001 the Israeli prime Minister, Ariel Sharon refused to sign any peace agreement with the Palestinians. In this period of time they didn't have to use much violence..(as they always did!) They never considered peace. I think why they finally considered peace was because they saw that the population was decreasing and if they kept on with the fight they would loose more of they people. Has  Israel changed? Israel hasn't changed.Things their are still the same. Do you think someday we can have peace?NAH.Peace is hard to get and if we do someday get some piece it won't be for long.
