Solution
They need to be separated. Each will not tolerate one another, even when they try peace, the violence continues. It’s not wholly the leaders’ fault. The ordinary people are the ones that fight the fights, the ones who won’t get along. As two countries, they won’t have an excuse to fight. About the “Holy Land” I say that neither deserve it. If it’s so precious and holy, then why are they staining it by spilling each other’s blood on it? Sure it has always had a gory history, but considering it was their gods’ terrain, I think they should show it a little more respect. I don’t think any god would be happy if their followers were defiling their land. It will belong to neither, but both will be able to visit and pay homage or whatever.
They will choose their own government (preferably a democracy) by voting and will choose their own leaders. Before they actually separate, each group will have to sign a treaty… no loopholes, saying that they will tolerate each other and not step foot in each other’s country with an ill thought. Yes, the Israelis can’t ban a Palestinian from going to an Israeli university, not unless they have shown violence towards them in the past. The citizens will have to agree too. After all, it isn’t only the leaders that don’t get along.
If there’s still violence… what can we say? There’ll always be violence with that much bitterness. If they still fight, ban them from your country. I mean it’s theirs to control, as long as they don’t ban the lot of them it’s okay. If they can’t get into the country then they can’t attack. Both sides will also be responsible for bringing the offenders to justice. There will be no “All right dude! You killed a Palestinian!” No rewarding the criminals! As part of the treaty, each side will enforce the safety of another.. For their own good.
It’s a simple solution for a simple, dumb problem: a lifetime of grudges. They’re fighting over the past and that’s completely pointless. Most of their resentments are over a hundred years old! Get over it already! You weren’t even alive back then! Another simple way: strap two of the most resentful guys from each side to chairs and let them argue it out (with a live audience) until they have nothing left to say. Pointless, useless and unnecessary. I prefer our way. Tell them that they’re dumb for hating each other’s guts and there.
If our solution works we will have created two free countries and one peaceful system… they can go on hating each other for all we care, but discreetly. As long that they follow the rules there should be no problems. It’ll kind of be like a circle and it can’t be broken. It’s not flawless, but it’s simple and very easily done.
